Perfect for a generation who like clean lines and minimalistic design, Bleyer Plain Casuals are a unisex shoe that fulfill the functions of a good swing dance shoe without any unnecessary fuss.

Essentially, the same as several other Bleyer styles but without the fuss of the Rock'n'Roll, Boogie Woogie or Lindy Hopper Lace Up, you can enjoy the benefits of Bleyer shoes with a simpler look.  Soft, light and durable the lace-up swing dance shoe is ideal for most feet shapes, and it features a versatile sole for almost any dance floor. The Plain Casual is a wardrobe must-have that can be used in jive, swing or lindy hop classes, social dances or for dance performances.

Whatever colour selection you make, the standard production Plain Casuals are produced using soft matt leather. These can be selected as all black, all white or a two tone black and white shoe.

It is possible to customise the Plain Casual with alternative colour options, or to use synthetic materials and therefore produce a vegan swing dance shoe. Please get in touch for further information.

For all standard options Bleyer use lovely soft matt leather that will let your feet breathe as they inevitably get sweaty during your dancing. The leather is soft and light so the shoes feel comfortable straight away, they will also shape to your feet over time.

The footbed is covered with a thin carpet, which is ideal for the type of dancers who are light on their feet and highly senstive to their dancing environment. However for those who prefer to protect their joints with soft cushioning, Bleyer recommend purchase the Bleyer Insole as well. The Bleyer Insole also has a carbon filter to absorb moisture, meaning your feet get less sweaty and the shoes can remain sweeter smelling!

Whatever your size, as standard this shoe comes with a versatile sole which can cope with a large variety of surfaces, you can even customise with a suede sole.

As standard, all sizes up to and including UK11/Bleyer 47 use the single-piece flat Spin Spot sole, which is made from hard plastic. As the Spin Spot sole is not produced any larger than this, Bleyer switch to the EVA sole for all sizes larger than UK11. The EVA sole is a hard foam sole, which is supplied as standard on many styles including the Bleyer Charleston.

Both of these sole types offer great versatility, they are hard-wearing and can cope with different types of dance surfaces - even outdoor dancing. The soles are designed for dancing and provide good and easy movement, for dancers at all levels.

Advanced dancers with excellent balance and technique who are only planning to use a pair in a clean dance studio may look to suede instead. Once suede soles have collected dust and polish they produce a smooth sheen that gives a very slippy contact with the floor (hence the need for excellent balance and technique). The downside of suede soles is that they are much less durable and can snag, tear or rip through unless they are treated with the utmost care and attention and they can create huge amounts of grip, fixing your feet to the floor when you try to turn, as soon as they become damp. Suede soles are available as a custom option on these shoes.

    Simply Select Your UK Size
If you know your standard UK size, then we recommend that you select that size from our dropdown options above. We’ve sold thousands of pairs of Bleyers to UK customers over many years and our size conversions have been honed on that experience. The only reason for UK customers to differ from this advice should be if you have tried and tested a pair of Bleyer shoes and you can read the label on the inside of the shoe (ignore any sizing on the bottom of the sole or on the shoe box).

Bleyer Plain Casuals are available in a wide range of adult sizes, from UK2 to UK13. They are produced on unisex shoe lasts, so ladies with any width of feet should find the shoes comfortable. Men with narrow and average width feet will fit them well too, but men with wide feet should consider other styles such as the Bleyer Charleston.

The Plain Casuals are produced with the same fit as other Bleyer styles such as Rock’n’Roll, Lindy Hopper Lace Up and Boogie Woogie.

    Size Conversions and Half Sizes
Bleyer is a German brand, so the shoes are supplied with a label displaying a European size, although 1-2 sizes different from standard European. Because the size increments are smaller for European sizes we need to use UK half sizes in a couple of instances when converting, but please appreciate that each increment on the UK scale (whether half or whole) is actually a full European size increment. If you normally take a half size that we haven’t listed please round up to the next full size, this is just a quirk of conversion; all Bleyer sizes that are in production are listed here and the shoe you round up to will almost definitely be correct for you.

    Wear UK6? Please Read Here
The most awkward size conversion is UK6/Bleyer 40. Although this works for the majority of people, across the Bleyer brand it does see a higher number of returns due to being too small compared to other sizes. So to help you get your selection right first time - if you EVER need to wear a UK6.5 in any brand of shoe you will almost definitely need to go up to the UK6.5/Bleyer 41. However, if amongst your other shoes you know that you only ever take a UK5.5 or UK6 and you never take anything larger you will probably be okay with UK6/Bleyer 40.

    Know Your European Size?
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a typical European size, it’s not. Bleyers fit 1 size (even 2 sizes for some people) smaller than standard European, so for example if you wear European 40 you are likely to need Bleyer 41.

    Information For Guidance Only
We know Bleyer Shoes really well, we don’t know the nuances of your feet though, so the information here is provided in good faith but it is not a guarantee of good fit and we can’t decide what size you need for you. Ultimately the decision on which size to select must remain your own although we will do everything we can to help you get it right first time. If you would like further advice, please email or call us.

We aim to do everything we can to mimimise the number or returns, but a simple returns system is in place should the size not be correct first time.
